BBQ 2.0

I somehow managed to get my name on the TechCrunch party wiki-page a few weeks ago. I guess I feel pretty special as Michael Arrington is now auctioning off the last tickets, as is Zoli Erdos. Of course, I am but one of 14 called Andrew, so perhaps not that special.

I went to a couple of the first TechCrunch BBQs at the Atherton TechCrunch Ranch last year with under 100 web-two-point-oh-ers and they were good fun. It will be interesting to see how they have changed with 750 signed up for this Friday.

A few of the Silicon Valley events in the past 3 months have been like nothing I have seen in the past several years. Is this the new bubble? Who knows (--yes)? But at least the networking events are getting more fun...

CM Pros Summit

I registered today for the CM Professionals' Spring Summit in San Francisco on April 11. We are also sponsors of the Gilbane Content Management Conference being held April 11-13 in San Francisco. I must say I am looking forward to the opportunity to meet some others in the industry face-to-face... not something I have done large amounts of in the US yet.

EditLive! for XML Relaunch

We are also planning on relaunching our EditLive! for XML product at the Gilbane conference. The new version (3.0) has a brand new standalone "Visual Forms Designer" which is designed to make it much easier to build templates for EditLive! for XML. The previous versions of EditLive! for XML included the Visual Forms Designer as an applet which required a whole integration cycle before you could even begin designing solutions. This was great if you were building a complete system around it (such as a CMS), but not so great if you had a specific business problem you were attempting to solve. I have been playing around with some betas of the desktop version of the VFD this week and I think we have made some great progress.
